American Indian Museum of Mississippi
Phase One of the new American Indian Museum of Mississippi in Kosciusko, MS.
The 10,000 square foot museum is located in the heart of Kosciusko on the courthouse square and will revitalize the former Leonard’s Department Store building. It will complement the nearby Natchez Trace Visitor’s Center and draw visitors from the Natchez Trace into the town center. Phase I of the project is funded by a generous grant from the State of Mississippi and includes stabilization of the historic structure and replacement of the roof system. Phase II will include rehabilitation of the exterior, new interior buildout, and exhibits.
The project owner is the City of Kosciusko, who is working with architects Canizaro Cawthon Davis and Arthur Cook & Associates and exhibit designer Museum Concepts.
